Join us for an event at the Goodman Theatre centered on Rebecca Gilman's play, “Swing State.” The play utilizes emotionally complex characters to explore the tension between opposing forces of humanity. It also discusses issues surrounding relevant issues such as incarceration, the environment, and questions of authority versus liberty.

Rebecca Gilman is a seasoned playwright, and “Swing State” is her 10th production for the Goodman Theatre. Not shying away from nuanced issues, Gilman is known for infusing her provocative plays with both drama and sardonic humor. If you are particularly passionate about environmentalism, political discourse, or art and theater, make sure to join us at the Goodman.

6:00-6:30 pm: A reception in Alice Center, on the 2nd floor of the Goodman Theatre. Students will be able to mingle and discuss the upcoming play with one another. Food and beverages will be provided.

6:30-7:15 pm: A panel discussion led by Goodman's production dramaturg. Students will be able to hear pre-emptive analysis and contextualization of the play and ask pertinent questions.

7:15-9:00pm: Play showing in the theatre (the show’s run time is 1 hour, 45 minutes).
